On the 25th November 2011 (14:00 WIB on Skype), Dr Michael Hartley presents the ideas how to make Maths fun.
In his presentation, he introduces the idea of using maths games to teach, either in place of or in addition to traditional classroom instruction. He explores some evidence that maths games can be more effective than traditional methods and some of the reasons why this might be the case. Finally, he introduces some ideas from his maths games website.

About Michael Hartley
Dr Michael Hartley ("Dr Mike") grew up in Perth, and studied mathematics at the University of Western Australia. After finishing his PhD, he left for Malaysia alone with
a suitcase, returning to Perth 10 years later with a wife, two children, and a 20 foot shipping container. In Malaysia he taught mathematics and computer science, and started a website full of free maths games for kids. Now he works as a mathematician in the oil and gas exploration industry, building up the website in his spare time.
